1. Privacy First by Design

LocalPort is built on the principle of local-first data processing. Unlike traditional AI applications that upload your documents to the cloud for processing, LocalPort performs OCR, embedding, and LLM inference entirely on your mobile device.

2. Data Collection & Storage

  • Local Data: All documents, images, and chat history are stored in an encrypted SQLite database on your device. We never have access to this data.
  • Relay Server: Our relay server acts as a temporary bridge for external AI requests. It does not store any of your data or chat responses. Data is passed through and immediately deleted.
  • Analytics: We may collect anonymous usage data (e.g., app crashes) to improve the service, but this never includes document content or personal information.

3. Wake-on-Request Protocol

External AI services (like ChatGPT) can only access your local context through the "Wake-on-Request" protocol. This requires your explicit approval via FaceID/TouchID or passcode for every single request. No data is shared silently in the background.

4. Third-Party Services

While LocalPort itself is private, if you choose to share data with external AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic), that data will be subject to their respective privacy policies. We recommend reviewing their terms before approving data sharing.
